The IGP system is a Prince Edward Island , source of high health, improved swine genetics. In 1998, a 300 sow nucleus unit was established in Ocean View, as well as a Boar Stud on a separate site. The IGP system presently includes seven multiplier breeder operations which operate under a standard health protocol.

IGP genetics are currently being sold across Canada, and clients in the United States, Mexico, China, and Italy are also enjoying the benefits of IGP breeding stock.

Breeding Stock Sales

The IGP system is a key source of healthy breeding stock. When the Grandview nucleus unit was built in 1976, it was stocked through caesarian section. It has maintained its high health status through strict biosecurity protocols. PEI is in a unique position in that it is geographically isolated from other large pig producing areas. PEI's recent Swine Import Regulations prohibit the entry of swine and semen unless it tests negative for certain diseases....

IGP's new Artificial Insemination Unit is approved for export sales by permit issued by Canada's Minister of Agriculture.
